Selects benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene (BTEX) as representative of volatile organic compounds, adopts the assessment models for carcinogenic risk and non-carcinogenic risk proposed by United States Environment Protection Agency (US EPA),and calculates the carcinogenic risk and the non-carcinogenic risk to passengers caused by BTEX in aircraft cabins. The concentrations of BTEX are from the field measurement data in 14 in-operation flights, and the exposure parameters are from the literatures about Chinese population. The results for different people (children, juvenile, adult and the aged) show that both the carcinogenic risk and the non-carcinogenic risk are lower than the limit value given by US EPA.
